TIME SENSITIVE: Something I have been building for a year launches Thursday. One thing can't wait.

In 2021, a report named twelve Americans and urged the platforms to erase us. I was one of the twelve. The White House cited it. Senators cited it. The enforcement wave that followed reached hundreds of millions of American accounts, posts, and reshares. The twelve of us were the visible casualties. Millions of you were the unnamed ones.

We sued. This July, a federal court dismissed Finn v. Global Engagement Center on procedural grounds without ever reaching the evidence. Between Murthy (no standing), Egbert (no damages), and Finn (no discovery), the message is now unmistakable: an American silenced through federal pressure on a platform has, in practice, no courtroom to walk into.

So we built the door ourselves.

This Thursday, September 17, in Washington, I am launching Restore the First: a citizens’ coalition to restore the First Amendment for every American, of any viewpoint, targeted for lawful speech.

The launch takes place at CHD in DC, the Children’s Health Defense conference, where Robert F. Kennedy Jr., now Secretary of Health and Human Services, headlines the program, Senator Ron Johnson receives the Defender Award, and Senator Rand Paul and Congressman Thomas Massie are speaking. Fifteen organizations and seven independent outlets, GreenMedInfo among them, have already joined. Our asks of Congress are simple: preserve the records, hold public hearings under oath, and create enforceable protections so this can never be run again.

But one thing cannot wait for Thursday.

Tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., the Senate Commerce Committee votes on S. 4749, the JAWBONE Act, introduced by Ted Cruz and Ron Wyden.

It is the closest bill in Congress to the remedy we need: a private right of action letting Americans sue federal officials who coerce, or even attempt to coerce, platforms, broadcasters, and AI systems into suppressing protected speech, plus mandatory disclosure of those communications. The pressure does not have to succeed for it to count. It is endorsed by the ACLU, the Knight First Amendment Institute, and FIRE. This is not left or right. It is the wall between every American and the next list.
