These are demon drugs. We have no way of even definitively measuring or quantifying "depression". And we have little understanding of how the brain works or the myriad interactions of its biochemistry, yet Big Pharma pick a single neurotransmitter and convince consumers this is the cure.

And it's not just SSRI's. So many other drugs cause equally severe consequences. A search of fluorinated antibiotics (the fluoroquinolones: ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, delafloxacin) reveal a list of horrifying side effects that include;

* anaphylaxis

* bloody or black, tarry stools

* burning, crawling, itching sensations, numbness, prickling, tingling

* blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, hives or welts

* bloody or cloudy urine, kidney damage

* jaundice, liver damage

* chest pain, irregular, pounding, or racing heart

* coughing or spitting up blood

* fever, severe headache

* hearing loss

* hypoglycemia in diabetics

* loss of muscle control or coordination

* tearing or severing of tendons

* seizures

* severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning

* nausea, vomiting

* shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet

* nightmares

* confusion, hallucinations

* suicidal thoughts

And they're just antibiotics!

It is inconceivable (and criminal, I would add) that such drugs are even making it to market.

I would avoid ALL pharmaceuticals. And if that's not possible, we can no longer afford to outsource vigilance or due diligence, because it's become clear that Pharmaceutical companies and Regulatory Agencies aren't doing it.

The Standard American Diet and all the junk food eating has no nutrient value. Lack of nutrients for the body...also deprive the brain of the nutrients it needs to function. Years ago, i read Sugar Blues by William Duffy...It was how people who ingested too much sugar faced depression. There are a number of other books on this subject, but there is not enough money to be made by the psychiatric field, , if people were cured by eating foods that contained nutrients. The brain needs the entire B-Complex to function well. Dr Russell Blaylock mentioned years ago in his newsletter how important the entire B-Complex was. He recommended a well known supplement company and i have been using its high B-Complex for years. I also avoid eating grains, which are a cause of schizophrenia per Dangerous Grains by James Brlaly, M.D. & Ron Hoggan, MA. I also avoid processed food...and use other supplements to make sure that I am getting all the nutrients I need, which keep me stable and upbeat. I am doing very well mentally and physically at 91, because I am aware of all the pitfalls in the American diet.
