A splenic rupture at birth is most often caused by trauma during delivery, especially in cases of difficult or instrument-assisted births such as forceps or vacuum extraction. I'm no expert by any means, but the way that it was worded makes me wonder if the measles presence detected were simply antibodies from the mother? If the mother had measles in her lifetime wouldn't she have those antibodies in her blood? And if there was a presence of disease anywhere around her, those antibodies would kick up as our immune systems are designed to do. Just a thought because I don't believe a baby in utero can get measles either like you said.
